Description: The Research Nurse will conduct clinical trials, analyze data and prepare results in compliance with experimental protocols. This position will evaluate current developments and research findings and recommend and adapt for use in clinical trials. Use scientific methods for testing the validity of hypothesis of projects and suggest the use of alternative approaches for testing scientific hypothesis.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Operate research laboratory equipment used in specimen, centrifugation, and storage/handling of specimens.
- Ensures site compliance with research protocols by reviewing all regulatory requirements to confirm implementation of appropriate methods, practices, and procedures for all research activities
- Recruit and screen candidates and/or subjects for research study eligibility by scheduling study visit appointments and informing potential candidates of projects and process.
- Develops accurate source materials and ensures compliance from site staff
- Collect, document and maintain clinical data according to requirements and procedures.
- Provides accurate and timely data collection, documentation, entry, and reporting in both sponsor and UIC databases
- Ensures appropriate credentialing and training of the study team
- Supports the regulatory staff in the maintenance of regulatory documents in accordance with UIC SOP and applicable regulations
- Create reports, grant applications(including budgets) and author and coauthor articles for publication
- Collect specimens such as blood and/or tissue and arrange for shipment to offsite lab.
- Interfaces with research participants, to support efforts to determine eligibility and consenting of study participants according to protocol
- Communicates and collaborates specific study requirements to the research team, including internal and external parties, sponsor, monitors, PI, and study participants
- Analyze laboratory reports.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required: - Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- One year of work experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree in Science or Nursing or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of training and/or experience in a clinical research setting.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in outpatient or inpatient Transplant nursing.
